Chatham Projects

This addition project in Madison, NJ was designed to bring more light, comfort, and year-round usability to a home that our clients already deeply enjoyed. Looking to enhance their connection to the outdoors while expanding their living space, the goal was to create a bright, inviting sunroom that felt like a natural extension of the home.

The design centered around maximizing natural light and creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. Expansive windows on three sides, paired with a central set of French doors, allow sunlight to pour into the space throughout the day while offering unobstructed views of the backyard. An arched transom window above adds architectural character and elevates the room’s sense of openness.

Inside, the palette was kept soft and neutral to let the surrounding landscape take center stage. Warm hardwood flooring grounds the space, while crisp white trim and walls reflect light and maintain a clean, timeless aesthetic. The vaulted ceiling enhances the feeling of airiness, making the room feel larger and more connected to the outdoors.

The layout was thoughtfully designed to support both relaxation and casual entertaining. A cozy seating area creates a comfortable place to unwind with a book or morning coffee, while a nearby dining table offers flexibility for meals, games, or gathering with guests. The flow between these zones feels effortless, making the space as functional as it is inviting.

From the exterior, the addition was carefully integrated to complement the existing architecture of the home. Clean lines, classic detailing, and proportionate scale ensure that the new structure feels cohesive rather than added on. The adjacent stone patio further extends the living area outdoors, creating a natural transition between interior and exterior spaces.
