This kitchen remodel in Scotch Plains, NJ was designed as a warm, welcoming hub for a grandmother who values family connection and time spent with her grandchildren. Blending classic, casual, and transitional design, the goal was to create an open, functional kitchen that supports movement, play, and everyday gatherings.

A key design decision was the intentional omission of a central island, allowing for maximum open floor space and easy circulation throughout the kitchen. This layout creates a spacious, flexible environment ideal for an active family. Rich dark wood flooring grounds the space, adding warmth and timeless character. The kitchen features a two-tone cabinetry design, pairing white upper cabinets with deep navy base cabinets for a look that feels both fresh and enduring. Gold hardware, a classic farmhouse sink, and a herringbone tile backsplash add refined detail and subtle texture while keeping the space bright and inviting.

A dedicated butler’s pantry enhances functionality with additional storage and prep space, featuring a wood countertop and patterned tile backsplash that bring in casual, artistic charm. This keeps the main kitchen open and uncluttered for family gatherings. The result is a timeless kitchen renovation in Scotch Plains, New Jersey that feels polished yet comfortably lived-in.
