This kitchen and bar remodel in Whippany, NJ was designed to blend rustic character with modern functionality, creating a space that feels both inviting and highly functional. Our clients partnered with JMC, a Morris County based design-build company, to reimagine their home with a layout that supports everyday living while elevating the experience of entertaining.

A dramatic floor-to-ceiling stone feature wall anchors the design, adding texture and architectural presence while visually connecting the kitchen and bar areas. Floating wood shelves introduce a handcrafted element, softening the stone and adding warmth and personality. Rich hardwood flooring and deep-toned cabinetry further enhance the grounded, natural feel of the space.

The custom bar area is both stylish and practical, featuring dark wood cabinetry, quartz countertops, a classic subway tile backsplash, and integrated beverage refrigeration. This creates a dedicated zone perfect for hosting.

At the center of the space, a large island with a custom reclaimed wood countertop serves as a standout feature. Its organic texture and live-edge detail bring warmth and character, while generous seating makes it a natural gathering place. Surrounding countertops are finished in quartz, offering durability and a clean, polished contrast to the wood.

A two-tone cabinetry approach in the main kitchen balances light and dark finishes, keeping the space feeling open while maintaining depth. Statement pendant lighting above the island adds warmth and reinforces the rustic-modern aesthetic.
